Hi all!  My name is Kelsey Wells, and I have a feeling that I am doing this blog completely wrong.  AH! Anyway, I am writing this from Austin, Texas, where I have lived for the past 3 years.  I moved here from Los Gatos to start a new job at Apple.  I was working at the campus in Cupertino, and kind of felt "stuck" in life, so my boss offered a position to me, but the catch was that it was in Austin.  I figured, why not, and have loved every second of it!  Coming from a background of my mom's Japanese roots, and my dad's Spanish side, I've always been interested in history behind where my grandparents and ancestors came from, and how they lived their lives!  Both my grandmother's tell me stories about unimaginable situations they've been in, from my Japanese grandma sitting in her home while she heard bombs destroying homes nearby to my Spanish grandmother picking prunes in the fields from dawn until dusk.  Such hardships in their lives make me appreciate my family so much more than I already do.  It is always very humbling to dive into the history books and put things into perspective.  Looking forward to hearing everyone's stories, and excited for this class!!

How are you liking Texas? I cant imagine moving because of work, but for Apple? I would drag my entire family with me!

  2. Howdy Kelsey! My dad and fiance are both from Texas. I also lived in Texas as a child. My parents currently live in Los Gatos and so I am familiar with that town as I grew up in San Jose. I also have the Asian and Spanish roots and I can relate to you. I hope you are enjoying Austin. Looking forward to knowing you more this summer. Cheers!

  3. Hey Kelsey. That is an awesome story about moving to Austin. I have heard so many good things about Austin and it is on my list of places to visit once this pandemic is over. I also have Spanish roots and was able to spend a little time in Spain last year. Hope you have a good summer in Austin and look forward to your posts!
